Steve Maconi – Naval Aviator, MIT Graduate & CEO of VMI Alumni Agencies 

Steve Maconi grew up in a small town in New Hampshire. He went to MIT on a Navy scholarship and graduated in 1977. Steve was commissioned in the Navy and served 21 years as a naval aviator, flying the P-3 aircraft.  After retirement Steve joined the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation. This was just the beginning of a now over 20 years of experience in development expertise in the non-profit sector.

In 2017 Steve was named as the CEO of the VMI Alumni Agencies. He has been instrumental in “reorganizing the management of the VMI Alumni Agencies.” Steve helped the VMI endowment account for 25% of VMI’s operating budget. He shares “it’s transformational, VMI would be a shell without philanthropy. Despite not being a VMI graduate himself, he has learned to appreciate the “magic” that happens at VMI after living and experiencing it himself.
