Alisa Johnson – USMC Veteran Aviator & Co-Founder of Dogs on Deployment

Alisa served in the US Marine Corps as a KC-130J transport pilot. She and her husband were both on active duty. It was early in their careers they realized that orders and service schools were preventing them from taking care of their dog for a period time. Luckily they had family nearby, but knew others weren’t as fortunate.  This launched Dogs on Deployment in June of 2011. Alisa would tell you her time in the military helped prepare her to be a non-profit owner.

“Our mission is to give military members peace of mind concerning their pets during their service commitments by providing them with the ability to find people and resources able to help them.”

Dogs on Deployment

DoD is a non-profit organization that provides a network for military members to find volunteers willing to board their pets while they are deployed or have other service obligations. They also offer financial assistance for emergency veterinarian services and advocate for pet owners on military installations.
