Raised by two Navy veterans, Cutler was destined for the Navy. Their influence led him to the Naval Academy. He thought that he’d go to make his parents happy but could get out if he didn’t like it. Thirty eight years later and he finally retired as a Vice Admiral. Immediately after retirement he worked as the president for Navy Federal Credit Union. Fourteen years he spent transforming Navy Federal into one of the most successful financial institutions in the country, quadrupling its size and making it an industry leader in customer service. It was ranked by Fortune magazine as a Best Place to Work for eight years in a row.
Author
After encouragement from his wife to share his “sea stories” in a book. Cutler wrote a book in 2019 titled, “From the Sea to the C-Suite: Lessons Learned from the Bridge to the Corner Office”. He walks his reader through lessons he learned in the Navy that have carried him through his leadership as the president of Navy Federal for fourteen years.
